The border town of Sopron has been an important centre since Roman times and many of its beautiful medieval buildings remain today. Its old quarter, still partially enclosed by medieval walls, houses many fascinating museums and a 61m high tower built in 1676. Outside the town, forested hillsides have walking trails and a lookout tower with magnificent views.
